  1. WORDPERFECT KIT SETUP INSTRUCTIONS

  4. The self-extracting file, WPCNV.EXE, must be extracted
  5. in a directory other than the Word program directory. 
  6. If you have extracted the files in the Word directory, 
  7. setup will fail to install the conversion files 
  8. correctly.

  10. Stand-alone Computer Installation:
  11. ---------------------------------

  13. 1. Quit Microsoft Word if it is running.
  14.  
  15. 2. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.
  16.  
  17. 3. Type "<source>:\setup" (without quotation marks) and
  18.    press ENTER, Where "Source" is the directory
  19.    containing extracted contents of WPCNV.EXE.

  22. Network Installation: 
  23. ---------------------

  25.    Network installation is a two part process. First, the 
  26.    Network Administrator performs an Administrative Setup, 
  27.    then each user at a workstation performs a Workstation 
  28.    Setup.
  29.  
  30.    Administrative Setup: 
  31.  
  32.    1. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.
  33.    
  34.    2. Type "<source>:\setup /A" (without quotation marks) 
  35.       and press ENTER, Where "Source" is the directory 
  36.       containing the extracted contents of WPCNV.EXE.
  37.       
  38.    3. Specify the destination directory for the setup files. 
  39.       The default directory is \WPKIT at the root level of 
  40.       the server.
  41.  
  42.    4. Specify the shared files directory. This directory 
  43.       is where the kit's shared components are stored, and 
  44.       is typically the \MSAPPS directory.
  45.  
  46.    5. Choose the location where shared files will be 
  47.       accessed by users who do subsequent Workstation 
  48.       installations from the server.
  49.       
  50.    If users on the network are running shared Windows from 
  51.    the server, the person performing the Network install 
  52.    must be running the same shared Windows, and must have
  53.    all directory privileges to the shared Windows directory.

  55.    Workstation Setup:   
  56.  
  57.    Each user at a Workstation will then need to run 
  58.    setup.exe from the network server location. Each user 
  59.    performing a Workstation install must specify their own 
  60.    Word directory as the destination directory when prompted
  61.    by Setup.

  63.    1. Quit Microsoft Word if it is running.

  65.    2. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.

  67.    3. Type "<source>:\setup" (without quotation marks) 
  68.       and press ENTER, where "Source" is the path to the
  69.       directory located on the server as specified by the 
  70.       Network Administrator in Step 3 in the Administrative 
  71.       Setup. (The default is \WPKIT located at the root
  72.       level.)

  74.    4. At the screen where the user is prompted to choose the
  75.       desired type of installation (Complete, Custom, or
  76.       Workstation), the user must specify the user's Word
  77.       directory.

  79.   5.  Specify where shared files will be installed.
  80.  
  81.    Note: The shared Word directory on the server may appear 
  82.    as the default destination directory in the dialog screen 
  83.    in step 4 of the Workstation Setup. However, the shared
  84.    Word directory must only be selected during the 
  85.    Administrative Setup of the kit.

  89. Before opening WordPerfect documents in Word 6.0 for Windows, 
  90. make sure the Confirm Conversions check box is selected in the 
  91. File Open dialog box. When opening a WordPerfect 6.0 or 6.1 
  92. document, you will need to manually select the WordPerfect 6.0 
  93. or 6.1 file type in the Convert File dialog box.
